Congress leaders and workers from Jammu and Kashmir staged a protest demonstration at Jantar Mantar here on Tuesday, demanding immediate restoration of full statehood to Jammu and Kashmir.
The protest, led by JKPCC President Tariq Hameed Karra, CLP Leader G A Mir, and AICC General Secretary Syed Naseer Hussain, condemned the BJP’s “undemocratic, authoritarian, and unconstitutional suppression of democratic rights” in the region.

Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge and Leader of the Opposition Rahul Gandhi have also reiterated the demand for statehood for Jammu and Kashmir in both Houses of Parliament during the ongoing Monsoon Session.
Over 500 Congress workers and leaders from Jammu and Kashmir traveled to Delhi for the protest, raising slogans like “Delhi Chalo” and “Hamari Riyasat Hamara Haq”.
The protest featured passionate speeches, patriotic slogans, and calls for an end to bureaucratic rule and restoration of democracy.
AICC General Secretary (Organisation) K C Venugopal emphasized that Jammu and Kashmir deserves its dignity, Assembly, and voice.
